The occasion
September 11, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks on the United States. The George W. Bush Presidential Center will convene the leaders who shaped the country’s response, alongside two voices from the generation of veterans who spent the following two decades in service.
I enlisted in the United States Navy in August 2001, one month before the attacks. The cohort I served with spent the next two decades learning what it means to be asked to do something on behalf of the country and to do it. Being on this program with President Bush, Secretary Rice, Chairman Caine, and Melissa is a responsibility I take seriously.
